Meet Our Founders

Shashank

An undergraduate from DU, Shashank knows Delhi really
well. Perhaps why, he found much success and experience working in the construction space there! He is good with numbers and loves everything innovative and finance. No wonder, he is in charge of making Dras Ice a sustainable
and future-ready profitable business!

Abhinav

Abhinav knew it right from the start that he had to do something FMCG! After his graduation from Drexel Uni, USA,
he worked as a mechanical Engineer in New Jersey, USA after which he soon decided to get into the family business of manufacturing packaging material for FMCG. With over six years of running end-to-end solutions in the space for multi-national clients, he is now ready to make packaged ice a reality for India.

Ayush

Masters in Strategic Entrepreneurship from King’s College London, Ayush commands a rich strategic experience and the right acumen to spear-head the operations at Dras Ice. Having worked as a manager in the integrated steel manufacturing business, he has a sound experience with multi-tasking, management, and the right acumen for decision making.

But, saying this much would just not be enough!

Here’s how it really started!

Abhinav, Shashank, and Ayush seem like 3 different people with very different fields of work. That’s what makes
Dras work, our differences, but more importantly, below the surface, there is an iceberg of similarities.

Our founders had quite a lot in common despite their varied interests. They all find the FMCG space intriguing, particularly the unorganized shelves that are still open for explorations and experimentations, like…ice! And, call it fate or call it a co-icey-dence, they were all students at the Indian School of Business at the same time, and that’s how they broke the ice.

Yes, we also have a lot of ice puns! That’s also something in common!

Rounds of brainstorming sessions and market analysis revealed that ice market largely remains unmoderated, unchecked, and unsatisfactory. This could all be pinned on to the fact that ice remains unorganized. While in countries as the USA and the UK, there is a huge market for packaged ice, Indian consumers have to make do with unbranded product from street hoarders and substandard loosely sold shards.

What’s the problem with that?
  • Contamination : A little cold never killed no germs. Contaminated water can freeze to become polluted ice, which in turn would shift all the germs into your otherwise hygienic and conscious food.
  • Not food graded : While we do see ice as a nominal product, in truest senses, ice remains a food item primarily. This means it has to be graded as any other food item to ensure safety of the consensus. However, that’s lacking and no assessments or certifications are in practice.
  • No availability of better solutions : Dras Ice would be the first!
  • Melts off too fast : Without proper box cases and packages, your ice would be as good as water by the time you open it. So, instead of a cool fizzy drink, you have a mess of soaking car seats and leaking bags which you have paid for.

This is why, Dras Ice was born! To bring some quality, safety, and cleanliness into your ice.
The idea here is to provide the best-in-class product at a justified price.
